evaluate education policy
The aims of evaluate ...informing choice are to:
The content of evaluate…informing choice presentations will be stimulating, challenging and informative, encouraging the development of knowledge, attitudes and values that will lead to informed decision-making. This education will:
-
provide information and facts about smoking, drugs, alcohol, solvents, pregnancy, contraception, Sexually Transmitted Infections including HIV & AIDS and related issues
- develop personal and social skills including negotiation, assertiveness, self-esteem
- consider issues focused on relationships, rights, responsibilities and choices.
An evaluate team works within the bounds of an individual school’s policy for Sex & Relationship Education, current Department for Education & Skills guidance on Sex & Relationship Education, and the Law relating to sexual activity. An evaluate team consists of a minimum of two educators and only those who have received evaluate training may deliver the presentations. They will have been police checked and hold Enhanced CRB Disclosure Certificates. evaluate is not a counselling service, nor are evaluate educators health professionals. evaluate is not a confidential service. Should a pupil or pupils ask for confidential advice, evaluate educators would give them information about other services available to that pupil or pupils, and would direct them towards the teacher, school counsellor/mentor, parent or the appropriate service.
When delivering evaluate presentations, evaluate educators would expect to have teachers present in the room throughout the sessions. This is to ensure continuity within a school’s Personal, Social and Health Education programme, as well as dealing with any discipline issues that may occur.

As the evaluate programme provides education about choices available to people in the light of HIV & AIDS and other Sexually Transmitted Infections, this will include education about condom use. The programme does not promote the exclusive use of condoms as the only choice for young people with regard to sexual behaviour. Rather, evaluate educators provide such education in accordance with the World Health Organisation position, which is “abstinence and fidelity between uninfected partners and safer sex can prevent the transmission of HIV. Safer sex includes non-penetrative sex and sex using condoms.” evaluate educators do not give out condoms in schools nor are condom demonstrations part of these presentations.
evaluate teams will confirm all bookings with schools and other youth organisations in writing. This written confirmation will include agreed arrangements by the school and will confirm times, dates and year groups being educated. Once a session has been confirmed in writing, it is not expected that it will be cancelled or changed unless under extreme circumstances, such as unforeseen illness. The evaluate team charges schools for providing these educational presentations at £1 per pupil present.
